Next Concert: Sunday, May 18, at 3:00 pm
The Southwest Washington Wind Symphony’s 20th anniversary season continues with Principal Conductor Patrick Murphy, from the University of Portland, sharing the podium with two guest conductors and showcasing works by local composers.
The ensemble is delighted to welcome its first female conductor to the podium. Danielle Armstrong, band director at Battle Ground High School, will conduct a piece by Isabella Morrill, a nationally recognized, award-winning young composer from Oregon. David K. Parker, a distinguished retired university band director, musician, and composer, will bring his expertise to the podium as he conducts an original composition inspired by the rich history of his hometown, Washougal. Additional musical selections will include Aubrey Fanfare by Jack Stamp, Emmy Award winner Scenes from “The Louvre,” and more.
At the concert, SWWS volunteers will host a fundraising raffle of an original fine art painting by Keith Lindberg, a contemporary American artist whose colorful and energetic paintings have garnered an international following. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to own a piece of stunning artwork while supporting live music.
Doors open at 2:30 pm. Open Seating. We respect your decision about whether to wear a mask in the concert hall. Some face masks will be available for those at high risk of respiratory infection or who have contact with someone at high risk.
